Replaced rings and all the gaskets in my 83 Harley. Motors running good but I feel like I may need to burn out the muffler. Is there any sure signs that the muffler is clogged? If so and I do decide to burn it out, is there a chance I could ruin the muffler by doing this?

Run the engine without the muffler and see the difference. BUT if it presently running good it is probably OK. I have never done the burn method myself but others like it best. I used the kerosene soak for fear of ruining the VERY rare 1982 and later muffler.

bump I was try to find this thread the other day for the early muffler mod to the 82 and up HD/Columbia cart substitution. Very little mods to the mounts but a reducer need for the header pipe/ muffler junction.
