Got a Curtis 400 amp controller and got a couple of questions.
Cart: 2001 ezgo txt series. I got a Curtis 1205-117 400 amp 36v controller from the marketplace a few days ago and will be hooking it up tomorrow. When I look on the Curtis website it only shows 3 low voltage connections. This one has 4 like my original. It appears to be that pin 1 is for key switch and pins 2&3 are for pot connection. Correct? What is the fourth pin for, I have four on mine now so I would guess the other wire but what is it? Also on the pot connection, does the orientation of the wires on pins 2&3 have to be a certain way?
Anyone have some pics or schematics for hooking the curtis models up?? Thx JB |

The throttle input is probably not correct for your cart...... that older curtis is likely a 0-5k and your TXT is an ITS voltage system, so this might not work.
I could be mistaken but you better check that out. |

Also from what I am reading is the A2connection on the controller is redundant and I can just leave it off the controller and ran just straight to the F&R switch, correct?

Hey JB just got your message. What year is your cart? It would help identify compatibility..

Re: Got a Curtis 400 amp controller and got a couple of questions.
It's 2001. I managed to get it hooked up today. I went by the Curtis website and hooked it up like the 1204 they had schematics for. It definitely has more power on take off. It is running around 15 on the top end where it was going around 13 before. The one low voltage connection seperate from the other three I believe is the 1/2 speed reverse but I did not hook it up. It has crazy torque in reverse compared to before.

Re: Got a Curtis 400 amp controller and got a couple of questions.
Hi, New here! I just got done changing out everything on my 95 medalist and ran into the same problem changing controllers. I bought a Curtis 400 amp controller, went to swap it out, looked at the old one with 4 connections and said, huh? So I went to the park cart guru and asked him what the deal was. His explanation was the A-2 circuit on the controller was a motor braking circuit that never really worked correctly so it was discontinued. He said just wire it up and forget the A-2 lug was ever there. I completely removed the A-2 wire from the controller to the F/R switch and it worked 100%.
AMD high speed motor, 400 amp controller, HD solenoid, HD F/R switch, 4 gauge wires throughout and I'm getting 21-22mph on the flats on GPS and pulling hills around 15mph. Cart still is 100% stock other than the upgrades mentioned. I used to get passed by pedestrians on one of these hills! |
