Battery questions
This question might sound '' Dumb'' to some of you but I am currious to know !
I ave a 48V Club car which as six 8 V battery. when ever will come the time to replace my batteries, would it be suitable to put four 12vdeep cycle Marine maintenance free batteries instead of six 8V ? four time 12v also makes 48V ! Can anyone tell me if that would make a diffrence ? |

Re: Battery questions
if you don,t mind your cart spending more time charging than you riding and you don,t mind replacing them every 2 years yes they will work but its not really a good idea and thats why when C.C. switched to 4 12 volt golfcart batts. after just a few years they went back to six 8 volt batts..............but its your call..................................there is a difference between a deep cycle and a G.C. battery just lift each one and feel the difference in weight................................

Re: Battery questions
12 volt Marine Deep Cycle Batteries will work, however as has been stated previously, you will lose runtime. If you are dead set on switching to 12 volt batteries, you need Golf car batteries, not Marine batteries. Personally I prefer to change my Club Cars to run on 8 - 6 volt batteries as I get a longer runtime.

Re: Battery questions
I see ! I guess when time will come I will just get six 8 Volts battery as I prefer to have my cart alway ready to go than see it connected to the charger .
That answers my question ! Thanks guys. |

Re: Battery questions
If you are so inclined, you can change to eight 6v for a longer run time yet

Actually I have a friend of mine that runs a welding shop that is designing a cage for 4 sixes to be placed in the center of a Club Car that will be a "bolt-on" application. He has it all spec'd out and once he finishes the design I will attempt to do a step by step photo of the installation. He has alot of work into designing it so that the typical cartowner can buy the "kit" and install it on their own in a single afternoon. Should be nice once it's completed. |

Re: Battery questions
oh yeah, the Western 48 based on an E-Z-Go frame running 8 - 6's is great, and I have done a few others as well, but I am having this built for the Club Car. I am tired of people in The Villages telling me that they can't drive far enough.... Adding those 2 extra batteries is a huge bonus in drive time.
