Default Cart Stuck in Forward when I connect the last battery

Serial Numbes is a 94 Club Car. previous owner did a manual upgrade to 48V by adding 2 additional 6V batteries. I am new so bare with me. The cart must have arch'd 6 weeks ago becuase it melted all the wires. Replaced the final pieces today (yes with Welding Cable and brass fittings) and as soon as i connected the last terminal the cart (Key Off in N and on a jack thank god) goes full throttle in Forward.

I assume I have something wrong. The cart has a Curtis 1204-015 in it with a Plum Quick Motor with a V-Glide. I have searched the forums but since it was a home made upgrade I figured I would put this thread out to get some starting points from people much more versed in carts than I. Thanks in advance for any help, I am headed back to search the forums more now.

Default Update - Cart Stuck in Forward when I connect the last battery

Actually the issue is when the Key is on, I select Forward and the cart lunges without pressing the gas pedal. thanks for looking.

Okay. So key on, select forward and put the gas peddle to the floor. Does the cart slow way down or stop? If so you have a mis-matched pot and controller?

YOu were very smart to have it jacked up for the test!

It has an H/D Forward\Reverse in it. Has 2 microswitches on the back of the switch with 3 wires (Blue,Red,Black) and 4 Spade slide ons. Currently on 2 slide on's are connected and the black wire of the pigtail (Which heads to the Solenoid). Seem ok? I have been trying to find a wiring diagram for that F/R switch and have not been able to.

ScottyB who posted a question earlier is the master at these conversions. go along with the first step of his help in diagnosis. He has lots of info to share if you just go along with the steps..even if it doesn't make sense to you now...once you learn what it was all about...it will all come together.

First thing I would do is look inside your V-Glide and see if the movable
arm and contact has not melted along with all the other stuff. If the
movable contact 'stuck' to the high speed contact you will come on
wide open. This could be a reason for the melt-down.

Big Pump - Checked the V-Glide and it is moving fine and I hear the microswitch clicking fine. Thanks for the insight

If theres a controller installed and you have a stock VGlide in there..you can check the signal coming out of the VGlide by reading the following thread I will post. The wire colors at VGlide should be same, but the colors at the controller will probably be different, but you should be able to figure it out
