Default 2009 PDS cable question

So I recently switched my 36v from 6 batteries to 3 12v batteries. I also added a speed chip. The buggy runs great but since I added the speed chip the batteries don't last. I know switching to 3 12v loses some run time, but I have a feeling there is something else going on. Would it be worth it to change the cable? What size should I switch to? Any advice is much appreciated.

You have reduced the battery pack capacity.... allowing the motor to draw additional amperage ( bigger cables) will only exasperate the problem.

So basically bad decision by me to put 3 batteries in? Anything I can do to more
Ride time? Do you think the speed chip would drain the batteries?

A cable change won't undo the loss of battery storage capacity. But it is a solid upgrade.....for when you replace the batteries next year.

Edit: Oops....scottyB got here first.

It shouldn't but there is one way to find out.

The speed chip allows the cart to run at a faster speed and requires more power to maintain that speed so yes it will shorten run time.

I also just ran a gps speedometer and the buggy topped out at 29.7, & pretty consistent speed of 26-27. I have read the speed chip allow the buggy to go 19 max. Is there anything I can do to get the charge to last longer?

Does your car burn more fuel at faster speeds ? Yes. Why, drag for the most part in multiple areas. Brakes, windshield, dog hanging out of the cart.. And if the op is getting those speeds there is some drag involved.
