Default 1997 workhorse carb issues

Hi guys,
I have a 1997 workhorse with a robin 295 engine.
Having some running/cold start issues. I have cleaned the carb. My issue is the main jet, someone has been there and stripped the slot out. I have the skills to possibly machine it out. I am having trouble finding a parts diagram for the carb to order a jet.

I guess my question is should I try that or just get an aftermarket carb to go on it?

Thanks

Sorry i cant help with sourcing new jets apart from direct from EZGO, as i am in the UK and do not know what other suppliers you may have.

Some people have taken to buying a cheap 20 dollar carb from amazon/ebay and just used the jet as the carbs themselves are usually rubbish.

It may be worth looking at your valve lash for the symptoms you describe as well as the carb! the intake valves (the middle two) are known for rapid wear on these engines.

When looking at the lash adjusters, see if the middle two show more thread above the locknut than the outer two after adjusting. this will indicate valve wear. If you are lucky and the valves are just tight, then adjusting them may solve your running issues for a while till it happens again. You can only adjust them so many times and eventually you will have to replace the valves.

OK. Still worth checking the lash again if you have not done for a while. 120psi is a bit low but workable.

I am sure someone else will be along soon with other suggestions on the carb!

Gotta dash so may be back here tomorrow.

Why not just order a new OEM carb and know it's right. They can be bought for a little over $100. Sure beats those china knock offs .

If you checked the compression with throttle wide open you are on the low end. That is after the valves are adjusted .

Do as Cartmaster suggested. Check those intake valves. Take a picture of them and post here so we can take a look.

Trig, I haven't been able to find an OEM. Where can I get one ? Yes that's with throttle wide open, I had both plugs out though. You helped me on that thread as well. I will try posting a picture again, I always have trouble lol
