Default 48v Villager 6 IQ on 64v or 72v

I recently purchased a 2007 Villager 6 48v IQ plus system and absolutely LOVE this cart. I have big plans for making her unique; one of which is to get some more speed and run time to enjoy it more. My thought was to replace the 8 - 6v batteries with 8 - 8v batteries (maybe 9 - 8v batteries if that makes it easier to convert). My questions are has anyone done anything like this to the IQ carts and what were the results? Will the stock 48v sepex motor handle the additional 16v sent to it by the updated battery pack? From what I understand it currently has a 500a controller - it pulls pretty well.

Thanks for the input and suggestions.
