1989 EZGO GXI 800 Spark Problems

I have a 1989 GXI 800 gas cart that i picked up a couple months ago. The cart came with a couple extra parts and was not running when i got it. The accelerator switch was stuck and would run even when you let off of the accelerator. So i replaced the ignitor with a new one that came with the cart. That fixed the problem but now i have a spark problem. The plug will not spark when i press the accelerator but will spark when i let off of it. I can hear a switch click when i press the pedal and let off as soon as it clicks when i let off it will throw a spark. Keep in mind that the ignitor is brand new! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
