Been gone too long!!
I have been away from this forum for quite a long while. I finally have the means to complete my 80vdc conversion.
I need to know about the latest and greatest controllers and batteries. I found a solid state controller from PG Technologies called the SIGMA. The largest one is rated from 72vdc to 80vdc and 460 amps. It is fully programmable with a wireless hand held controller. Has anyone had any experience with these? What other controllers are currently being used. My cart is an off road buggy so rugged conditions are the norm. I understand that 8vdc batteries with the same footprint as the 6vdc are now available. They are about the same weight as 6v batts. As I understand it: weight= lead and lead= longer ranges. So, what's the word, do I use (10) 8V OR (13 )6v? Of course I using large cables(0 ga.) and a heavy duty f/r switch. So let's hear some opinions and sources for your favorite components. Thanks, Mark |

Re: Been gone too long!!
I guess I'll be driving a big battery pack with a golf cart hooked to it.
After talking to ScottyB, I think I'll start at 48v and go from there. (6) 8v batteries does sound better than (13) 6v's. I'll get a controller rated 48-72v and start with 48v. |
