Ezgo throttle cable
Hi everyone. I'm probably not doing this right, but hey I'm tired of watching my husband "fix" my ez go. He is trying to replace the throttle cable but there is this tiny do hicky that connects to the front control arm that he is trying to put the cable in but the slot is tight and he won't let me jam it with a flat screw driver for fear of shredding the cable. Any ideas? By the way...my name is Cindy and I'm thrilled to find this site.

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
WHAT YEAR IS THE CART and WHAT IS THE DOHICKY ?
could it be the lock nut that slides on to the cable? |

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
Jamming/prying things with screwdrivers is probably not the best option, very few manuals ever tell people to perform such actions .... you need a do-hicky assemblers jig or maybe a pic/better description of what your trying to do. cause I (and I'm thinking it's "we") have no idea what your talking about.

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
The front end of the throttle cable needs to slide down into a vertical slot on the control arm, but the slot is way too small. Is there an easy way to enlarge the slot so the cable will fit?

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
Welcome to the forum....................
Gosh! Looks like it needs to be opened back up with a flat blade screw driver. Then put the cable in it. |

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
I just replaced the same cable on my cart and you are correct. The gap in the bracket needs to be opened up with a screw driver or similar tool. It can then be closed again with pliers or just leave it alone. The cable isn't going anywhere.

Re: Ezgo throttle cable
It's a 2003 EZ-GO ST 480. I don't see a set screw in the cable nut. I can try prying it open with a screwdriver, but I wanted to be sure there wasn't a better way first.
