48 volt latching switch?
Hello BGW,
I am hoping someone can guide me. I am redoing a CCP from the ground up. I am installing a underglow light kit this new version comes ready for a 36v or 48v system which sucks in my opinion because I like to add a switch to turn then on and off as I please. I know you can shut off with the key chain remote or on the dash remote however, the cart was converted over to lithium and when you turn the battery off then back on the underglows turn back on and that would be super annoying to me. I want to add a switch like the one below however, I can’t seem to find one rated for 48 volts. My eco battery has same/similar switch. Would I be able to use a regular 12 volt switch for a 48 volt application? |

Re: 48 volt latching switch?
Do you have a link to the product? Are you sure its actually using 36/48v at the lights and not having some kind of voltage converter in line?
Options for switching it if you are truly switching 36/48v would be using a contactor with a 12v coil and running 12v through a switch to open/close the relay. Quote:

Re: 48 volt latching switch?
The switch doesn't care what the voltage is. Quite often switches like that are rated for something like 250v just based on the insulation value.
The illumination light/LED in the switch would likely need 12v to operate. But sometimes they are fine with higher voltages. You could just use a resistor to drop the voltage down going to the light. Or if you use a reducer for the light kit you can use a relay to trigger the 12v supply to the switch. |
