Default Switching the axle to the underside of leaf springs

I am going to try to switch the leaf springs from sitting on top of the leaf springs to under the leaf springs. I think I will have to weld flat plate to the top of the axle for the springs to sit on. Also I am thinking of a 2" block between them for more lift. I maybe adding some old ATV tires is why I need the extra space. If anyone has done this homemade any advice or help will be appreciated. Thank you.

It's been done many many times on lots of leaf sprung vehicles. Just google "Spring over conversion" and you'll find lots of examples. A golf cart is no different than a truck as far as the leaf springs go, same principle. If you have the skills and tools, go for it.

Spring purchases are redily available in all sizes. I cut them off and rewelded the OEM purchases but it was more work than necessary. Also the gain was minimal.
