Adjustable roof height solutions
firs timer here, just put a 6 inch lift on my cart, I knew i would have a parking in my garage issue but am willing to work on that after the fact. I am looking for different adjustable roof ideas so i can park my now beefy cart in the garage. I need to be able to adjust by about 5 ".
i am working with the 01 ds, with rear seat and wind shield, and would like to retain those items. so far i have found a convertible top. in the $400+ range, but the rear seat may become an issue with that. I wold like to retain the hard top because i get a lot of use in the winter with an enclosure and heater. I would love to hear any and all ideas that you might have. my most recent thought was some kind of sliding roof system that would allow me to detach the rear of the roof and slide the top along a rail system so it Lays at a 45 degree angle behind the cart, while still attached. Would love to come up with something my wife could operate if I'm not around. Thanks all! Zac |

It's been done. They used square tubing. 2 different sizes so one would fit into the other and wing nuts. Had issues with rattling though.

Re: Adjustable roof height solutions
sounds like your referring to a roof that would go strait up and down? I was looking at that but with all the angles in the DS I'm not sure how smooth that would work. may have to just design a new roof frame for that I guess.

Campers use foldable uprights on popup campers maybe some thing there.
Snowmobile trailer caps use some good hardware too. |

Re: Adjustable roof height solutions
I'm gonna agree with L&L...
My buddy cut his struts to fit in his "Rubbermaid" shed at the campground, (6' high) It works perfect for him, and his wife can assemble it herself! There is one thing that concerns me... how small is your garage door opening? I have 7" of lift on my cart, 25" tires, and a topper... and my cart fits in my (standard) 6' 8" garage door opening... with room to spare! |
