Default Stolen Cart: Need GPS Tracker

Hi Everyone,

I have been cruising this site for a couple of months in preparation for buying a golf cart. It was a ton of help and I finally pulled the trigger on a 2015 precedent with the alpha body kit. I had the shop throw on a 600 amp navitas controller last week and I thought life couldn’t get any better. Things took a turn for the worst last night and my golf cart was stolen between 7-9 pm outside a restaurant when it was parked on a busy street. After calling the cops and exhaustive search we posted this to a FB group and some people claim to have seen a truck pulling a trailer with our cart on it. If it was stolen by trailer none of the kill switches or theft deterrents would have been much help unless it was chained to a pole. That is not practical so I am looking for recommendations on a GPS tracking system. I have come to the realization it will most likely come with a monthly service fee, but after having your cart stolen it is a small price to pay. Can anyone offer suggestions on this? Any first hand experience with GPS trackers? Thanks in advance for your help. All the best, Mike

Just a though, what about these chip you can put on you dog and cats. Also they make a chip for our car keys. Might not be a bad ideal to put chips on utility trailers law mowers etc.

Yes the cart was insured, but I want to have some piece of mind as well. I have come to the realization that you cannot 100% prevent the theft so the next best thing is to catch the people with it. I hate the helpless feeling that someone knows they can get away with it. At least with a tracker hidden on the cart I have a lead on where it might be.

I did research online, but most seem to use the obd ports on cars or run off batteries. None look to be specific for carts so I wanted to see if anyone had first hand experience. Thanks!

Dang that sucks. I know the feeling. Had a jeep stolen about a year ago but without theft insurance and was never found.

Could you tell us where this happened? Maybe one of us will see it.

This happened in San Antonio TX. They opened up the downtown neighborhoods to carts a few years back and now they are on every corner. People leave them on the street in front of their house and I have never heard of someone having an issue. I am now warning every one I see about this. I would love to be able to see the idiots who stole it.
