Default EZGO Newbe

OK, I bought this cool little 2 stroke ezgo cart off of craigslist for $10.00 The guy said it had been sitting in his back yard for a couple years and he just wanted it gone. I took it home and drained and renewed the old fluids, put in a new battery and, to my surprise the thing actually ran......for about ten minutes. Then, even though the motor was still running fine, it would not move forward, only backwards. after a minute or so of backing up, it decided it did not want to do that either. The motor runs strong and the clutch moves out when it is rev'd up. I called the local ezgo dealer service shop and he insisted it was a problem in the carb. This just does not make sense to me, but I am not a mechanic. Any thoughts?

Jack it up and check if the brakes are locking up.

Did you get this cart from the same guy Scubajoe got his?

See: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...keep-dump.html

Because you too seem to be missing some critical parts on the front suspension!

Take the drive belt off, and see if it rolls. You can also run the motor without the drive belt to check the forward and reverse operation. While you have the belt off, if the motor runs, check the engine compression in forward and reverse. If it's less than 100 psi, you may need to rebuild the engine. Compression test will give you some good information as to the condition of the engine.

Thanks! I found the spline on the rear brake drum sheard off. The axel was turning, but not the wheel. I have a lot of work to do on this one. Fun-Times!

yea, for $10 buck,
you might want to put the plate that holds the spring to the axle up front back on. If that one bolt through the spring breaks your going to pile-drive the cart into the ground. I can assure you it won't be a pretty sight if that happens.
