Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
I don't have a serial port so I'm guessing I'll need a USB to serial adapter then to the 4 pin Molex Mini-fit jr? Or is there an easier way?

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
I'm not sure about these Zone/Star/Fairplay carts but these are available from China in both rear wheel drum brakes and 4 wheel disc/drum.
If your cart is not equipped with 4 wheel brakes and you are planning a speed mod over about 28mph, give some thought to adding brakes. |

That's a great idea....do any of the sponsors sell a brake kit?

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
When it's cold or rainy outside, I use a golf car cover for my EZGO that's vinyl and clear plastic. It keeps out the wind, rain, and cold and I have good visibility front and sides. It also allows access to the golf club bags. If it's real cold I have a small propane heater designed for covered golf car use.

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
Scotty is correct, Jakes (sponsor) makes the brake kit for the Fairplay carts. They may or may not be the same as the Zone. Fairplay and Zone are sold by 2 different sales agencies and assembled in 2 different facilities.

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
From the Zone photos on the original free electric car site the Zone doesn't have front brakes and has drum rears. I'm definately going to be looking at some front discs along with some other goodies.

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
Sheesh...I went through the Jakes site and looked at all the modded cars. Now I've got a bunch of ideas I'd like to do. I'm interested to see what mods are out there that will currently fit the Zone carts.

Buying accessories for these will be a trial and error basis until everyone gets a handle on it. When structural designs change or alternate factories are used the equation just gets more muddled. Some will be lucky and get it right the first time and some will have disappointments. The smart money would be to wait until someone actually has one and learn from their experiences. |

Re: Who's planning on modding their carts?
I looked at the pictures of delivered carts and the assembly pictures at the factory in CA. Looks like no front brakes.
Ditto on waiting until we get some cars out there and figure out what fits. |
