So before you start ask yourself some simple ?

1. How fast to U want to go ?
2. Will the cart be used for cruising (# persons to be hauled) , hunting or towing.
3. How big will the tires and wheels be ?
4. How much money are U willing to spend ?

after these you can design to get the most Bang for your buck.

my cart will be used at a campground, going back and forth from the camper to the dock and visiting friends etc. I dont have a big desire for speed but i would like to faster than the stock i have now, and perhaps keep my options open to maybe increase the speed more at a later date. Also there a a couple of hills i go up and down so some better torque would interest me. I was planning on wheels just slightly larger than stock, trying to keep my lift if any at all to a minium! I was considering at this point going 48 volt, controller ( alltrax model?) pot of some type heavy wires and the stock motor, i figure i can upgrade the motor at some other time. Any coments suggestions or laughs?

Sounds like your on the right track.

Controller wize, you should be looking for an alltrax axe 400 amp or 500 amp. either one coupled with a 48v conversion wil give you the speed and torque you would be looking for

You need a Heavy Duty foward reverse switch

If this was a vglide cart, or the pot box is screwed up, you need a curtis PB6

Cables, you should go min.. 4 gauge, or better yet, if you can go 2 gauge wire.

And a HD 48v solinoid.

And you should be good to go

Well just upgrading all #6 cables to #4s will add a some torque and a tad of speed.
changing over to a alltrax 400 controller which works with a PB6 pot , and adding the
Big heavy solinoid should add a bunch of torque.
Also converting to 48 Volt with good new batteries (trojan prefered).
All this should probably get you to 15-18 mph with tons of torque.

O yeah and a 48 Volt Charger !
