Default Electric Pontoon (golf cart motor and board) help

Hello everyone,

Im looking for assistance as to what throttle I would need to buy to replace the one I currently have.

See pics for setup. The OEM wants $700 for a new throttle. Myself having converted a EZGO Marathon to solid state am well aware that $700 for a potentiometer is absolute theft.

Pics attached for wiring, and motherboard (curtis 1204m).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need to figure out what throttle you have now. The 1204 can use a few. That said I think the one you have can be changed to others. I found a motorcycle type 0-5k for about $90.. They also had one made for boats..

Thanks! I’ll have to research 1204 POTs. This one has 5 or 6 wires so it seems like what you said would work.

If it has that many wires it is doing more than just a throttle.

I agree. I've attached the assignment chart to the plug that connects the throttle (which includes key power and power meter) to the bus bar on the motor.

Only a few of them have to do with Forward Neutral or Reverse. I should be able to retain the non throttle related items by switching to a separate battery meter and key switch.

If Im reading this 4 are related to the POT plus 1 for power which would mean a 5 wire POT is needed?

Blue and brown are the throttle. Red powers the controller logic. I’m betting orange (reverse) and green (forward) control the reversing contactor.

They’re so cheap it’s worth buying just to trial. Seems like the one I bought for my marathon will work.
