Default Plasti Dip Paintjob (dipyourcar.com)

Okay, after looking over all my options, I purchased everything I need to spray an 01' Club Car that I'm selling to fund a Disney vacation;

20 cans of Dark Grey
3 cans of Raw Titanium
3 cans of Silver Metalizer
3 cans of Glossifier

I'm painting the body and roof Dark Grey with a silver-flake finish (Silver Metalizer). The brush guard, rear bumper, roof support, steering column, and seat supports will be painted with gloss black and clear (standard) paint. The wheels are currently faded aluminum , and I'll be spraying them with a few coats of Dark Grey (as a base) with Raw Titanium on top, and a few coats of Glossifier to give them a shine.

Anyone else use this style of refinishing? There are some pretty incredible transformations on dipyourcar.com. I'll admit like most, I was skeptical as we've all seen those 'spray and pray' dip jobs, but when done properly, it looks pretty amazing and unique.

Here's a sample of Silver Metalizer over matte black, which is a few shades darker;

Post back pictures once you're done. I'd love to see the finished product, plus I'm thinking of dipping the wheels on my explorer with black dip and metalizer. Maybe this will give me an idea of how that will turn out.

Not a problem, I'll take a few snapshots today. Should have the dipyourcar product by the end of the week. It's incredible to me that I never really thought much of plasti dip, then after doing some research, it's extremely popular on all the high-end exotic forums (BMW, Audi, Mercedes, etc.). We'll see how it turns out though! If it turns out alright, I'll be painting my Jeep Willy Cart' with it next, desert tan of course.

What will it end up costing too do the job then? How tough is plastidip really? What would trail riding with branches do to it?

I look forward to seeing what it looks like when your done with it.

Well, I'm not sure how straight of an answer I can give you on that one. 8-cans has been recommended on this site to paint a Club Car body with 3-coats. If you just wanted a single color without any special effects, then it would be roughly $55 (8 x $6.85). 3-cans will do 4-automotive wheels. I purchased 20-cans of Dark Grey, as they are on sale for $3.40 each currently, so nearly $70. It's funny as that was the exact color I was looking for on this build.

What it comes down to, is what exactly are you looking for? Specialty colors and effects such as the Raw Titanium ($9.98 ea), Silver Metalizer ($8.28 ea), and Glossifier ($8.28 ea); are all fairly expensive. You could go without any of these honestly for something you're going to drive around the house. On my Jeep cart', I'm just going to do a Desert Tan with a Glossifier finish.

I spent around $170 shipped, and paint was going to cost me around $120 for standard 'rattle' cans locally (after $50 in discounts). You can spray plasti dip with an 1800 PSI pressure washer and not experience any ripping or tearing, so it's fairly durable once it cures. I can't tell you much more than that, this cart won't even see the rain once it's done, as it's going up for sale.

Here's a YT video of the durability;

I'm happy with it so far, no big time off roading though.

You need a minimum of 4 coats for peelability. Trust me. Done less and it's a pita to remove thin coats

My has been 3 different colors with a new one coming next week.

V-twin powered pressure washer was the only reasonable way I could remove a botched plasti-job on my neighbors truck (I didn't spray it, I just got the pleasure of removing it). I personally hate the stuff, but to each their own.
