Module settings
I have a 2006, 48 volt Club Car. When I bought it the dealer set the Module settings to level #2. After taking it to our RV Park in the High Sierras, I brought it back and asked the dealer to set it for more torque. He set the module to #1.
OH man that was really terrible. The cart would hardly go and everyone was passing me (how embarrassing). I just brought it back to the dealer and asked him to set the Module to #4. He said I would need to buy a computer chip but he could set it to #3 which we did. The cart seems to go much faster, but will it climb the hills at the RV Park? MY QUESTION... Is it worth buying the computer chip or should I get a more powerful motor? Then, if you change the motor, it probably means you need a better controller, RIGHT? How does that all interface with the Module? Does this all make sense or am I missing something? (Sorry for so many questions) |

Re: Module settings
It all depends on how much $$$ you want to spend!
@$100.00 for the #4 code, and alot more for a motor and controller! It's up to you, and what you want to spend! (btw...the module your speaking of, is the controller!) |

Re: Module settings
I hope the dealer is not telling you theres some kind of "module" for the controller that he programs these settings into. If he is he is blowing smoke up your you know what. If you change the motor you should upgrade the controller with it. Once you change the controller you won't need to go to the dealer for programming the controller, you do away with all that.

Re: Module settings
I’m not sure what the programmer is called. I thought he said, “I’ll get the Module to reset it.”
My cart has 3 possible speed settings with a possible fourth if I buy a chip. Anyway, from what you say, if I upgrade to a new motor and controller, that is no longer needed, RIGHT? |

Re: Module settings
Now I see what your saying!!! The Hand Held "Module", programs your controller for different settings... It's to my understanding, that the "speed chip" (Code #4) is a program that your CC dealer gets from the factory, and, downloads it to your cart ,with the hand held "module"! (I don't know that much about IQ's, just from what I've read here) With an aftermarket controller, you're able to program it with a laptop! no need for the hand held "module" anymore... I may be just a little off on this... hopefully, someone will correct me if I'm too far off! |

Re: Module settings
If you purchase Speed Code #4 from Club Car for around $100 you'll get speeds at 19.6 MPH, no controller needed.
If you want faster then you can purchase a Plum Quick IQ motor for $300 without a core and including shipping and get speeds from 24-26MPH. The price of a good controller will be around $400 by itself. According to Plum Quick the aftermarket controller will give you more torque at low speeds over your stock controller but upper speed and torque would be about the same. I've done this already and my fastest speed has been 26.5 but that is NOT the norm, more like 25MPH and from a dead stop I'll get to 16MPH in 5 seconds... the link is below: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...et-26-mph.html |

But motor rewinders as a rule defete the code for PQ motors so you will always be at code #4. Cant go back to 3 if you wanted to (I think). Call and ask someone like PQ in scubadude's link above. |

Have any of you upgraded your motor? What are my options and where did you buy yours? I have a 2006, 48 volt Club Car. I don’t need to break the land speed record but would like plenty of UMPH (is that a real word) to get up the hills and NOT keep getting passed on the straight-a-ways. |
