Default Removing fiberglass on 02 DS

Hi Folks,

Just picked up an 02' DS and I'm going to install a new lift kit on front and back. Do you recommend removing the "cowls" prior to installation? If, so what is the best method for removing them.

Thanks in advance,

I always remove the front cowl. It's pretty easy and fast. No need to remove the rear, you're just unbolting the leaf springs, flipping them to the top of the axle and bolting it back together.

Just remove the bolts for the roof struts, and there's some small bolts/screws on the underside of that trim piece around the edge of the top. There's 2 in either kick panel, and a few on the underside of the top. Then the front cowl should just slide right out

And to note, unless someone has changed it, the body should be plastic.

Shouldn't be any fiberglass on an 02.
If it's fiberglass, someone may have wrecked it, or the cart is not an 02.

I just did a 6” lift on my 02 DS. Didn’t remove any body parts and knocked it out in about 2 hours. You can reach all the necessary bolts just by removing the wheels. It’s not difficult at all if you’re good at turning wrenches. Just make sure you don’t put the hubs back on tight and you adjust camber and toe in.

Darn it...

I removed the cowl trim screws completely. Should have read here first. I can see where they sat in the trim. Any reason not to glue them in place or at least use some scotch tape to hold them in place while you install it. Otherwise it's gonna be a chore...

Here's a couple ways discussed to go about it: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...s-do-away.html
