Default a little cloud energy problem

Not a great day for my club car President with the new Cloud Energy 48v 100ah battery. Ive been happy with it so far but only have charged it 4 times now. 1st 2 (should have been 3) charges was discharged to 50%. Next charge took to 25-30% then charged to about 90 or so. Last night charge was 45% on my normal couple mile cruse with the dogs. Charge was down to right around 40 then full stop. No voltage nothing. The app and smart screen indicated 0% charge and 0 volts. Towed back home let sit for 20min or so. Still 0 volts even checking with multi-meter. I plugged in and it started to charge. While waiting to see if it would take a charge I emailed Cloud Energy. I already had a case for a smart screen replacement. The customer service was great on that issue. Much to my surprise I got a response within 15min. Email back and forth. Sent screenshots of control and app. Hooked up the app and they could even check on what was going on with the battery. (not sure if that's good or bad) He changed some settings recommended get to full charge and test it out. I will be testing this weekend now. I am unsure of the battery quality now,but the customer service is GREAT and I have little doubt that any issue will be resolved. Since it is fall/winter now I wont be driving as much. I still drive it down to about 10F outside. I have a ride on cover. Should I recharge at 50%? Will the regenerative braking cause any issues?

Ask them at what temperature their BMS will shut off. And if it will shut off both charging (regen) and discharging (driving).

Yeah don't drive below 33*F, or turn it off for the winter

This is typical, if one cell gets too low and the BMS undervoltage protection shuts off the discharge channel. Happens to me recently, from 40% to zero and there was only one
of the 16 cells weak. It's a balancing issue.

Was it freezing or below when this happened?

fyi the CE BMS considers 1 cycle to be 100% charge. So if you do 2 charges back to 100% from 50% that is 1 charge cycle. 100 charges from 99% to 100% would be 1 cycle.

This is not necessarily true. If the cells drop under this temp then sure. But just because the outside air temp is 33 or less does not mean that the cell temps are.

Example you store it in a heated garage and drive to your mail box a mile down the road and back to get the mail.

It's always based off cell temps not air temps.

It was around 40 degrees or so when it cut out. Battery temp was above 60. The display and app will give the Temp, amps and state of charge. According to the tech specs you can operate the battery from -20~ 60°C so I was well within the temp range. Im guessing since the battery was new I did not do enough balancing charges. I don't see the recommended charging procedure. Do you charge after every use? Do you let it get to 50% or something similar? Here is the link for the battery. https://cloudnewenergy.com/products/...lf-car-battery

I have two of the 60Ah version. I let mine get to around 35-50%, which takes about 2 weeks of use, and then recharge to 100%.

You don't have to do balancing charges. Just turn the charger on and let it rip until it shuts off.

What ta heck are "balancing charges" ?????? I haven't seen or read anything other then drive and charge when needed. Nothing about discharging and charging to certain levels.
