![]() Check your local scrap yards. They probably have a scrap yard network so they can look at other yards inventories. I bought my Volt battery off ebay a long time ago an just recently converted. I haven't seen unmolested packs on ebay recently.

![]() I've only heard good things about EVBattery, but I noticed on that Chevy Volt pack they state that it's 55Ah from 4.2v down to 2.5v. When I checked online I found Lithium Manganese (which these are) to have a 3.0v to 4.2v operational range.
Does anybody have the scoop on the *real world* range of Chevy Volt batteries? I've seen research papers indicating high heat, full charge and full discharge all adversely affect the lifespan of these batteries. I just received my new Alltrax controller (thanks ScottyB) and I had it programmed to cut off at 3.25vpc. If the real range is down to 3.0, then I'll leave a quarter volt in the battery to help with longevity. If the real range is 2.5vpc then I'll have to rethink my cutoff voltage. |

![]() I found from researching Volt packs that there has not been 1 reported claim due to battery failure since the Volt went into production. Reason being is Chevy set the limits so modestly as to not over charge or discharge the pack so who knows what the real parameters are.
I've read in one place that the absolute MAX MAX is 4.26V per cell and the absolute MIN MIN is 2.5V per cell, but the difference is range from 3V to the 2.5V was negligible and not worth the risk. |

![]() thanks ncpw. I'll leave the cutoff at 3.25vpc then. The added longevity/safety is good and covers me in case one cell becomes imbalanced.
