Cool Voltage Reducer / Regulator Questions

Do I need a voltage reducer to use a stereo? (no amps or anything, its has a 15amp fuse MAX input, with only 50 watts RMS for all four channels...) or can I just hook the radio up to two of my 6-volt batteries? Will the radio really drain that much power to affect the equality of charge, and doesn't the golf cart charger fix that???

I don't have the $70 for a reducer, the stereo is free and so are the speakers...

THANKS!!!

You can hook up to 2 batteries to get your 12vdc. Use a multimeter to prove the connections to yourself first. These 2 batteries will discharge farther than the rest of the pack and will become unbalanced (electrically). This can be cured by a balance charge on those 2 only with a decent 12v automotive charger across the pair once in a while. Do not use the main charger while doing this.

We also use a waterproof battery tender in this type of application. Comes with quick connect harness and can be used (plugged in) whenever the cart is parked or on charge.

Is the tender just for the two batteries connected to the stereo, or for all of the batteries?

???

THANKS EVERYONE!!!
