Don't forget the most important upgrade. With all these power upgrades don't forget the batteries. Buy the batteries with the largest AH possible or the heaviest. Those you got in there won't do.

Thanks jjance, I will keep that in mind. Will these work ok temporarily with the larger controller until I can upgrade?

Yes, they'll keep working but you might see shorter run times between charges. With the cost of batteries, I wouldn't bother upgrading them until you have to.

I would also suggest a battery meter like the one ScottyB sells if you don't have one already. Keeping an eye on what's really going on and charging them before they get too low on power is the key to keeping your batteries (and wallet) happy.

I would up grade the cables and solenoid, if the 500amp controller isn't much more than the 400amp meaning $, I would suggest the 500amp controller. With that motor being a rebuild I would assume a 500amp controller would work just fine. If It was a stock motor it would burn out over a period of time with heavy loads on it.
