Default 400 amp or 600 amp solenoid help

I need some help choosing a solenoid. But first here are my cart details.

2016 Club car precedent i2
4 seats
Gtw a-arm 6 inch raised suspension
14 inch rims
22 inch a/t tires
Navitas 600 amp controller with on the fly programming
Original club car solenoid
Original club car 3.3 hp 2500 motor
Full light kit

And more, but not needed for my question.

So far with this setup the cart maxes out at 23 mph. However, I am concerned the original solenoid won't last. I believe it's rated for 225 or 250 amps.

I want to get a heavy duty solenoid. I looked into the Curtis 400/800 amp solenoid, and some Chinese 600 amp solenoid. My gut says to go with the 600. What do you guys suggest as far as amps? And why? Also do you have a brand you would recommend?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. I'm burnt out...

Thank you.

Mark

Your OEM is less than 100a. You need a SD400 https://www.revolutiongolfcars.com/p...lenoid-48-volt for that controller, although if you have it turned up, the OEM motor will eventually burn out. You also need 2g cables if you do not have them already.

You may want to call David Hicks at Revolution Golf Cars 706-431-3917 and seek his advice so you are setting yourself up for the best scenario.

Call Dave at revolution. He’s on vacation this week but contact him to get the set up you need or otherwise you are going to damage your cart by running the solenoid you have now and the 600amp set up.

I will call Dave. Thank you for the info. P.s. I plan to keep the stick motor until it dies.

I have a build that I did with a plum quick motor, stock controller and a 200 amp solenoid and it has plenty of torque and hits constant 25 mph and hits 30 at times. I have a feeling that if you just change out your motor your performance will really increase.

I had my 700 amp controller with stock motor for 4 years before it burned up and stock solenoid for for almost 8 years before it gave out. Not saying this is the right thing to do but I didnt have any other problems during that time .

That is a lot of controller. I hope you have turned the controller down for the stock motor. Something around 450 amps is safe and more amperage than that motor can use without quickly burning out.
MZJ400A with a dual stage coil has a peak capacity of 1000 amps - No need to pay more than what you see on https://www.cartsunlimited.net/solenoids.html

And a Series like yours are generally stronger and more forgiving then most of the tin-can sepex motors. Especially the thin GE's that were junk....

Awesome feedback. Thank you all for the information I decided to purchase the MZJ600A just to be on the safe side. Motor will be swapped when it goes kaput!

Does the Navitas control have reverse polarity protection on the output side?
