Default G29 tow switch troubleshooting

First time poster, I have searched but can’t see a previous thread.
I have a 2014 G29e that runs well, does not appear to have any issues other than that the tow/run switch does not work. I have replaced the switch with no result.
Anyone with a fix or workaround if the cart needs towing?

If you disconnect the wire from the tow switch, does it go into tow mode? It should! It's just a simple switch.

Good question. I have had a failed Tow/Run switch but it is rare.
A more common problem is accessories that have been added and wired incorrectly or leak enough voltage to keep the controller alive. USB ports are good for this.

Unfortunately no go after disconnecting switch. There are no accessories fitted, completely stock.

I'm confused. I would call that a win!
Pls confirm
  • The car is running fine
  • You put it in tow mode and it still runs
  • You replaced the switch.
  • It still runs in tow mode
  • You disconnect the wire from the switch and its no go.

Is that correct?

Correct to all and no accessories added.

The tow/run switch is open in the "tow" position and closed in the "run" position. If you disconnected one of the wires, you opened the circuit, the same as the tow position on the switch. As unlikely as it seems, you have 2 faulty switches. Check the switches for continuity with an ohm meter.

IF the cart runs with a wire removed from the run'tow switch, there is a wiring error somewhere in the cart. (or a faulty controller)

True but thats not the case. Read his response to my post again. He confirms that when he disconnects a wire from the switch, the car stops...as it should.

Hi gents
Confirming
The cart runs whether switched to tow or run
The cart does not go to tow mode with either wire disconnected
The cart does not go into tow mode if the wires are connected to each other
Both switches confirmed good

I have read somewhere about a tow switch fuse but cant find it

Any thoughts appreciated
