Plastic
Hi folks. Does anyone know what type of plastic is used for the 1997 Club Car body ? I have to repair some flaws in a recently acquired cart and my research shows several different methods and materials for different types of plastic repairs.
I have some acronyms on the front cowl underside ( TEO D&S and MPC) but they don't come up in google. As usual your help is much appreciated. Chris. |

Re: Plastic
The red putty (not BONDO) Be sure and use plenty of grease and wax remover.
Heres a site thats got pretty good deals on paint supplies. Kustom Poly-Glaze is a good filler. http://www.tcpglobal.com/kustomshop/kspsurprep.aspx |

Re: Plastic
For deeper scratches & gouges, Marson platinum body filler works great; takes a little sanding & patience but it bonds and fills pretty well. A little bit of red glazing putty works good for small nicks and dings. If you're talking about longer cracks, you're gonna need something more substantial. I've got a CC dealer nearby that has a plastic welder. Its basically like a woodburner kit that melts the plastic from both sides, then they use the actual armorflex filler rod and build it back up. I had about 10-12" worth of cracks right in the creases around the taillights that they fixed for me for about $90. Smooth it out with your fillers, knock down the high spots, scuff it with a red scotchbrite, then hit it with a high build primer. Sand it with at least 220grit and with a good spray job you've got yourself a show cart.
