95 medalist wire caught fire!!!!
My 95 medalist has been very slow up hill. I changed all wires to 4 gauge and the other day everything stopped and when I lifted the seat one of the wires that goes from the speed controller to the solenoid was literally on fire. I think it was marked b on the controller and it went to the solenoid then to the battery. Any help on what's causing this would be appreciated

Bad cable or loose connection.

Re: 95 medalist wire caught fire!!!!
As stated the biggest cause of hot cables is poor connections.
Undersized controller and or solenoid can cause excess heat. |

Re: 95 medalist wire caught fire!!!!
I checked all the cables and connections numerous times everything was very tight all the crimps were real tight and all the cables are brand new 4 gauge. I just put them in about 2 months ago to see if it would help going up hill but nothing changed

Re: 95 medalist wire caught fire!!!!
Well, put a new golf cart cable (not automotive) on it and watch it..... also minimize the loads uphill.

Re: 95 medalist wire caught fire!!!!
None of the rest of the cables were hot? Was the cable that was burning, burning on one end or the other, or the whole thing? If it was only the solenoid end, the solenoid is probably bad. I had a bad solenoid that worked fine, but the cable ends got hot. New solenoid and not hot anymore. Also if yours is one of those tin case ones, they are only like 85amp rating.

Is the bad cable crimped or soldered?
