Re: Matt's Build Thread
Well its been a while since I've posted an update so here it is. I decided not to make the workhorse a 4x4 for the main reason being the Kodiak 400 was full time 4wd and I use this cart around town as well as the cart path.
The benefits of the atv drivetrain in this golf cart are awesome. It forges through water over the floor board with no belt slipping. The positraction rear end makes this golf cart just as capable as a 4x4. Torque from low gear feels like it could pull a mountain. High gear + the 5 speed transmission are killer on road. Top speed 40+ mph. Up front I built my own drop axle from scratch. The shifter was a challenge I built it 3 times before I was completely satisfied. And man it turned out much better than I ever thought. Shifting is smooth like you would expect out of the factory. Also its easy anybody can drive this being a semi automatic you dont have to clutch. I'll take pics of the shifter setup and anybody who wants to use the design on their build are more than welcome to it. |

Re: Matt's Build Thread
Nice work Matt! I just happened to have bought the ugliest 2004 txt in history and am gona do a vtwin build. I also bought a 23 hp vanny. Im currently wearing out the ups guy with parts and as soon as the long travel kit arrives I will begin and post losts of pics. Just curious as to speed and torque you are getting out of your cart. I went with the series 06 drive clutch from CPP which measures 7 1/2" and have no idea if this thing will climb trees or do 50mph??? just wondering...

Re: Matt's Build Thread
You're gonna love the torque of the vtwin. The red vtwin cart I built would pop a wheelie with somebody in the back seat. It had about a 25mph top speed. If you put high speed gears in they'll go a lot faster just depends what is more important to you top speed or torque.
