Default Battery meter install question

I have an LED battery meter for my 48v ydre, not sure if the C terminal should get 12 volts or 48 volts, either it reads full!! Might be a bad gauge but either way I would like to know if it makes a difference how is hooked up. Thanks!!

Can you post a link to the battery meter you installed?
That may help someone answer your question.

Reading questions and answers it looks like it should get 48v from key switch, but still I wonder if that affects the reading or it's just a wake-up signal to the LEDs, not necessarily part of the meter reading itself. Hmm

Follow up- left cart plugged in overnight and it's only at 51.4 volts, when charging it's 58 volts. The charger fully charged light was on. So is 51.4 fully charged for trojan 8 volt batteries? Each battery read 8.5-8.6 volts individually. I thought a fully charged cart would be at like 56 volts? Thank you guys so much, I rely on your expertise!!

Here is good resource for battery information.

Lots of good information there.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but that type of battery meter is pretty much useless. Many of them consider whatever you initially hook it up to as "full" and don't really give an accurate reading. The best bet is to get something like this that gives you the true voltage. https://www.cartsunlimited.net/battery-meters.html
