2015 RXV Battery Replacement
Right now I have 6 trojan 8 volts probably around 3 years old. I have tapped and drilled 2 battery post on the 2 main batteries already to because the batteries bulged the other ones almost off. The SOC digital meter drops to 60 and 70% fairly quick after riding so I am thinking its about time for a new set but i havent been pleased with the trojans. Honestly not sure something the cart has caused the weak performance or my expectations were too high. What batteries would you recommend? A drop in lithium or Crown batteries or something else?
I did some load test going up an incline the other day and it read At rest I showed 49 v on my hand held meter going about 5mph it dropped to 44v mid ways up then about 42v at the top at rest on top 48.5 volts. |

I am very partial to the Crown agm ...maintenance free....bms worry free. From what I have been reading for the most part new lithium or modified to lithium don't come close to the range I get from Crown agm 6 crv 260ah. True the cycle recharge life said to be shorter...but not necessarily so with a good charger and charging at the end of each "duty cycle"...long life is expected. I use a Dual Pro ...Eagle Pro 4818i bulk, absorption, float and will equalize balance charge...can leave on charge when you want to store during the winter. My 6v x 8 agm very 630 lbs heavy...yet my ICON I40 hits 29mph and will hit 25 going up hill.... I run 15 to 25 miles and my cart never slows down...with 98-99% soc still available.. The issues with lithium from what I read range from bms issues, reliability price issues, a lack of local reps....and though lithium boasts of long warranties...after some years in service...will there really be any warranty support...? Should you choose Crown agms the Eagle Pro is a must and set up for the Crown agm..I had a very very bad experience with the Lester Summitt 2 650w charger ..I did use the 22259 profile...but it managed to cook those batteries. My dealer came through for me and credited them for a new pack. There are some success stories with lithium...but not enough for me as of yet Best wishes deciding.. Happy cartin' |

FWIW I'm going to buy US 8VH ATB for my six 8 volt conversion when I can locate the needed battery tray. From what I've gleaned here this US battery has the highest amp hour rating for any FLA 8 volt. $170 each at the nearest dealer.

Re: 2015 RXV Battery Replacement
I replaced my Trojans with U S batteries. Had slightly better specs and slightly less cost.
Two years in happy with them. |
