Default G14 with 420

Has anyone done a 420 swap on a G14 I can’t find anything on these. I just built plates and sat the predator in the cart extended the key switch now fabricating exhaust just wanted to make sure I am doing things right. I want to also use the S/G just as a generator if I am on the wrong track let me know.

I did my G 14 with a Vegascarts 460. Look on their site at installation manual for the G2,9&14.

Yep, worry about belt size and aligning belt right. The gen mounts up same as it was just mod the brackets/etc, same wiring. You should check the sicky post above about how to use a relay to kill the engine when off, its just a relay and harness or wire it yourself. Assume you are using an adapter and cart clutch so you can use the gen. Most clones have very poor charging anyway, the gen is 15A.

SHO 305. Thank you that makes me feel a lot better I am getting a little longer belt and have been concentrating on the alignment. Should get the belt tomorrow and be in business. Have modified Gen mount and have it about where it needs to be. I do have the adaptor and cart clutch. Should just need to get alignment, tighten the engine and finish fabbing the exhaust I really appreciate the feedback from both you and RAYdhd

SHO305 I used the predator wiring and extended up to dash. I didn’t use any of the factory wiring. Is there a diagram I would need to use the generator and voltage regulator without using as a starter? I would imagine I would have to entice the solenoid in the run position so current will flow through to the battery. I Can crank the engine with the key and I don’t think I will have trouble starting it just can’t figure out charging system. Don’t want to overcharge the battery if that is possible

I don't know how you make it not want to start it. The gen is a motor at low rpm to start, it generates at high rpm. However old lawnmowers did have key start with a gen. You run the VR on the field wire to control charging.

Make sure you align the gen and drive belt at same time too, as they both run off the clutch, before you make anything permanent.

Sho305 thanks I have it all running but think I have to work on charging. I kept the old relay hooked up and ran a jumper from the + out of generator to the enticed on relay to close circuit only when the generator was sending power it seems to work and charges battery but doesn’t keep up when the lights are on so I am thinking the 1 amp on the 420 is what was charging battery

Most 420 are 3A, but that is not much. The gen is 15A but less at low rpm/idle.
