Not FB. It was in "Introductions." My bad. Knew I had seen it somewhere.

You know.....I made a post on this forum a few months back about doing something similar that you have done here. And for some unknown reason my post was deleted. I was asking if anyone ever had done....or thought of simply cutting off the rear part of the leaf spring, and then....leaving the spring bolted to the axle....install a set of long-travel rear coil-over shocks.

I see you have welded hiem joints to the axle, and then "added" another hiem joint from the axle to the frame, and you're using an air shock.

But what's the purpose of the "duel" hiem joint? Just "more better" stronger than just using two?

Well it's my attempt at a 4 link suspension. Even though I used the old leaf spring as one of those links on each side, and even though one end of those links uses a pivot bushing, I was worried about lateral shift of the axle during cornering. Adding those inner control arms prevents lateral movement.

I made those inner links with a bend in them because the air ride suspension will cause the motor (and whole axle) to rotate around as the suspension rises and lowers. If I didn't put the bends in, the motor would contact the links on full travel. I hope that made some sense?

Yup. That makes sense.....but for me...I'd have to setup a miniature model and visualize how it works.

Still looks rad! Is that a rumble seat in the back?

Sort of. A forward facing seat for the little ones. Makes it easier to keep an eye on them too.
