Re: Air ride G2 project
I had been thinking of having the frame powder coated by the same company that media blasted it. I decided to go with epoxy frame primer & paint from Eastwood. Reason being that If I find myself needing to weld more brackets or anything then powder coating would be harder to blend back into. Eastwood does offer 2k frame paint but since this cart is electric & shouldn't be exposed to gas or oils I went with their 1k products. I'm happy with how the gloss black laid out and 4 coats has it looking pretty durable. Flat pics is the primer and gloss is topcoat.

Re: Air ride G2 project
Wow, that looks fantastic! I really need some more shop space and a second cart to use so that I can do that to my G2. Really nice job!

Re: Air ride G2 project
I started final assembly of the front end earlier this week only to find out that I was shorted the kingpin kits that I ordered along with new break cables. Frustrating when you shop all around and have found the one website that shows they have the parts "in-stock" only to open the package and realize that the half your order is on back order.
So I switched gears and and decided to polish the rear differential and get the axle tubes all cleaned up. Now to start researching upgraded motors and decide what I think will be the best of both worlds as far as torque vs top speed. My wife's gas TXT will run in the lower 20's and that seems to be about right for a cart around here. My driveway is steep at 13 degrees of incline so I will have to get a motor with some decent torque... |

Re: Air ride G2 project
I hate it when that happens, you think you are buying something that's in-stock and it ends up being on back order....
On the other hand that rear diff looks amazing! |

Re: Air ride G2 project
New Guy, yes I have been making some progress but it does seem to be going slower than I would like. I started to go down the wiring rabbit hole but the Auto tech instructor that is going to help me with all that says to get it all painted before we wire it all up...

Re: Air ride G2 project
So I did get all the bodywork to the rear end finished and touched up some problem areas on the front upper plastic. I have probably 600 bucks in the cartridges of 3M EZ sand plastic repair.
The first coats of primer didn't adhere to the front end plastics so as I started to block sand them smooth the primer was just peeling off in sheets. I had to sand the two back down to raw plastic and repair material and went with a plastic adhesion promoter other than BullDog. |

Re: Air ride G2 project
So I now have all the plastics but the gas lid in primer. The two front end plastics should be ready for one last block sanding to make sure they are as straight as possible. The rear end is very fuzzy so it may take two or three rounds of priming and blocking to get it were it needs to be for paint. I'm just praying that the Lesonal plastic primer adhesion promoter works better than the Bull Dog did..
