Air ride G2 project
Finally getting around to posting some pictures of my project yamaha G2. Plans are to air shock the front and bag the rear. The front and rear plastics will need to stretched and widened to tuck the 14"wheels. Also plan to ditch the resistor coil set up for modern 48v electronics with a more powerful motor. Stereo will come last...

Re: Air ride G2 project
I had a Heidts dual control arms and crossmember from a 32 ford roadster laying around in mechanics shop at the tech school where I teach auto collision. The stock single a-arm set up would have been easier but I didn't want a bunch of camber when it was laid out. Ended up making a new crossmember and then cutting off the front section of the frame to narrow it 2".

Re: Air ride G2 project
Gotti,
I have studied your thread several times looking for ideas for my project. I'm just hoping that once I get it on the ground and rolling that it all works out. I don't plan on it going much faster than 20-25 mph so it doesn't have to handle like a race car. |

Here are some pictures of the steering knuckles I fabricated to work with the upper and lower control arms.

Re: Air ride G2 project
I have this same front end in My 29 ford roadster pickup I'm building. It is a nice set up. I see You removed the ball joint and cut them. And made the plate to mount the spindles to. Great work I think it's going to work great

Re: Air ride G2 project
I keep looking at your front end,,,, isn't it mounted backwards? your upper ball joint appears to be forward of the lower and your brake calipers are backwards.

Re: Air ride G2 project
New Guy,
Yes, I finished it up a year ago. Or at least as finished as any custom project ever is. This summer I plane to replace all the surfacing rusting allen head bolts with stainless. and next winter I will take the front end back apart to use the stretched and wider plastics as a mold to make fiberglass pieces. Front end still needs to be a little wider to clear tires when totally laid out. Probably do the same to the rear body as well... |

Re: Air ride G2 project
Sorry man. Was reading through the thread and came across the picture. I was trying to be helpful in case it was still in the building stage.
