can't get clutch off (IS BOLT LEFT HAND THREAD)???
Have a 96 Club Car Carryall II. Having problems with the clutch locking up, jerking and then speeding away when it starts so I am going to change my clutch.
Bought the puller tool and have a new drive clutch. MY PROBLEM IS I CANNOT GET THE BOLT TO MOVE. Read somewhere that it is a LEFT HAND THREAD (NEED CONFIRMATION PLEASE) so I have tried to go clockwise to remove. Just before I do any damage and try to use an impact I want to verify that it is a left hand thread clockwise to remove, counter clockwise to re-install and if anyone has any tips on how to remove this clutch.... I have used the search engine but didn't really get a definitive answer. PS I can verify my engine is a counter clockwise rotation when looking at the clutch. Thanks for anyone that can give me some help on this. Dave |

Re: can't get clutch off (IS BOLT LEFT HAND THREAD)???
97 is when they started using left hand thread. If you motor runs counter clockwise looking at the clutch its right hand. If your motor runs clockwise looking at clutch side then its left hand thread.

My 1996 service manual doesn't mention anything about the drive clutch bolt being left-hand thread..

Re: can't get clutch off (IS BOLT LEFT HAND THREAD)???
Correct, A 96 SHOULD be right hand thread. And SHOULD run counter clockwise. A quick step on the pedal while looking at clutch will double check.
