Default Project idea!(Golf cart conversion to military half track)

I think this is a cool idea! The main issue is how do I make the tracks work? I thought I could some sort of sprockets on the drive axles, but does anyone have any ideas of how and what to do for the tracks, suspension, rollers, etc.? I found some rubber tracks on-line for different construction equipment at a cost of $800+. Used rubber tracks for $400+-. (too much) Any ideas?1?

Use a set of ATV tracks.... they just bolt right on to the hub in place of a wheel.

Better have the horsepower to turn them.

check the garden tractor/tractor forums. Ive seen a guy somewhere take a CubCadet and make a crawler out of it. Also check Struck manufacturing for ideas. They are the ones that sell plans for the mini-dozers and track loaders that you see in the back of Popular Mechanics.

You could build some tracks that wouldn't take too much power to turn out of an old tire:

How about snowmobile tracks? You could likely find a couple old junk sleds with decent tracks, they'd just have to be the same model. I know there's a yard near me that has lots of sleds.....Just an idea?

Found this cool tank thing using sled tracks on youtube.
