Replacement for Curtis 1206HB (Cushman Shuttle 4X E)
Howdy,
Could use a little advice on replacing a Curtis 1206HB-5201 controller that I broke (by flipping the battery leads). I have a Textron Cushman Shuttle 4X E that I recently replaced the 6x 8v batteries with 4x 12v LifePO4 batteries (as well as new 4 gauge battery cables, new DC to DC converter, and fuse block). The controller seems to be working except for the connections to the motor. I ran through some resistance tests on the stock motor and solenoid (48v / 225amp / Trombetta / 114-4811-020-14 / 3/2/17) and all passed successfully. I found the guide online as steps to perform using a VOM before replacing the controller. Here is what my controller replacement options seem to be based on my limited knowledge: 1. Replace with another Curtis 1206HB 2. Replace with an aftermarket Sepex Drive TXT-48 (from ?) 3. Replace with a Navitas TSX 3.0 36v/48v 440A controller with bluetooth As far as use, we use it around the neighborhood streets (occasional offroad) and wouldn't mind a little more speed (30mph absolute max) and some torque, but isn't a must (current speed I estimate around 20mph). We are not looking for a fast cart as my pre-teen kids also drive it. The Navitas looks enticing as it seems as though I could switch it/tune between a "kid-mode" and "adult-mode". So any experiences, feedback, or questions that would help with the decision (bang for the buck) would much appreciated. TIA Edit: Running 22x11-10 tires Last edited by TexasTea; 04-06-2024 at 04:53 PM.. Reason: tire size |

Putting in another 1206HB is going to be the easiest, won't need to modify anything or get adapter harnesses.
When you put the controller into freedom mode, it will do 19mph on golf wheels. With your bigger wheels, it will go faster, but less torque available for climbing hills and carrying loads. Also the 12v lithiums in series isn't a great setup, you'll run into balancing issues. |

Re: Replacement for Curtis 1206HB (Cushman Shuttle 4X E)
Thanks for the feedback. Any suggestions on places to buy the replacement?
I do see the Navitas offers an EZGO harness so would purchase it as well if I go that route. I wish I would have done my research on the 12v batteries in series as I read the same comments on the setup. At this point it's probably too late to return the batteries and will ride it out with what I have. |

Not sure if there is a site sponsor that sells ezgo stuff.
Country cat is the big one for new OEM parts. |

Alltrax is another option that should also be a plug and play.

Thanks. It looks like the Navitas generally runs less expensive than the Alltrax.

Cheapest would be a made in China 1206hb clone, I see them around the $200 mark. Of course buyer beware...
