Need advice on a buying a Club Car or EZ-GO
Well this is going to be a first purchase of a Golf Cart, I am currently looking at a 1999 Club Car Electric (batteries replaced last year and a "2004" (owner not sure) gas EZ-GO the price for both are similar. Is one better than the other? I will be looking at them both this weekend since I never owned one before what should I be looking for?
The cart will be used at our cottage (light duty, 2 adults and 2 kids ) on gravel / grass road. I also want to be able to modify it as I have time and $$$$ and do simple repairs when needed. |

Its tough to beat the silence and smoothness of an electric, but a gas is much more fun. My neighbor has my exact same cart only his is gas and mine is electric, and his is soooo much faster than mine. Like night and day.

Lots of people are going with the electrics now since there are so many options to enhance the vehicle performance with the proper motor and controllers. No mess with gas and oil. Just plug it in when you done. Gas tends to be much better for hunting camp applications where there is no electricity, just generators. Various performance enhancements can be seen using the Choosing A Motor tool at: http://www.ddmotorsystems.com/MotorSelector.shtml .

I have a gas cart and an electric cart.
I like the gas cart for speed and working hard, but to just drive around at the lake, I like the electric one better. In my experiances, the gas one is cheaper to make go fast, and so far has had less maintenance needs. |

Re: Need advice on a buying a Club Car or EZ-GO
I'm not sure about the cost to upgrade a gas to speed of 30 mph. Depending on what type of vehicle you have and the setup, vehicles speed of around 25mph with the electrics are pretty standard. Goto the Choosing A Motor tool at: http://www.ddmotorsystems.com/MotorSelector.shtml . Let me know which motor and controller you desire. Just press submit and someone will give you a call. Often there are refurb motors and controllers available at a discount. At least you can then determine the different costs of gas vs electrics. Later, Mike
