Re: Cheaping out on batteries
Website for Dyno Batteries - the company Monstermaker said is a local battery manufacturer. They do have a specific line of golf cart batteries.

Re: Cheaping out on batteries
But guys, remember, my cart just carries stuff around my yard and goes 1/4 mile down the street with the garbage cans. It never gets driven more than a mile at a time.
Dyno doesn’t list a 12 volt GC battery, only 6s and 8s. I was thinking of downsizing to a slightly smaller size 12-volt deep cycle. The dinky battery cables the cart came with suggest to me that the available current would be still be sufficient, especially if I upsize the cables. Well OK and also once every summer my neighborhood has a golf cart and lawnmower race, but I race the mower and she races the cart... and I don’t wanna kill her, it’s a crazy course. |

Re: Cheaping out on batteries
Ok you guys win. I didn’t screw around with cheapo batteries.
I just bought a brand new set of Trojan T-1275 Plus golf cart batteries. After much searching, I found a local (Snohomish, WA) golf cart dealer who sells them for $204 each. Can’t pass that up. |

Re: Cheaping out on batteries
Either way, I think you made a better choice. Good batteries used for low mileage & maintained well can last as long as 8 years (that's my opinion, based on carts I have seen). Occasionally they show up still driving in with "we need new batteries". Markings & molds prove they been in there forever. Sorry to say, I never seen any 12v cart batteries make 8 years, 6 is about tops for those . Still better than 2-3 as best for "wrong batteries" , 1.5 years is typical for those. You made the better move.

Re: Cheaping out on batteries
Are the stock cables OK on a stock RXV or should I turn my next attention to upsizing them?
I think I know the answer to this, bigger battery cables are always better... |

Same is most likely true for the controller to motor cables, but I don't know if they can be upgraded or not. |
