Default Camber adjustment gone wrong..

The attached pic gives you an idea that my camber was off. The bottom of the tires stuck out 3/4 to an inch more than the top on both sides. The rest of the alignment was fine. So today I spent an hour or so with my right angle adjusting to get the top of the tire even with the bottom so my tires wouldn’t wear unevenly.. I went to drive tonight and the cart was slower and way more squirlly. The same stretches I was going 26 with occasionally 27mph yesterday, I only got 22-23 with occasional 24 tonight. And everything seemed more loose in the steering. The tires are 20x10x12 all terrain and an all-sports 3” lift. New batteries were completely charged. And I just changed mcor and contoller. Is a little negative camber good? I think I prefer going fast and smooth, over extending tire life. Any body have any thoughts on proper camber adjustments?.

What is the toe set at? I found that 0 toe works best on my cart with 23” tires. Camber won’t usually have an impact on a carts handling.

When I measured everything before I started, the rear of the tires were about 1/4” wider than the front. So I didn’t adjust toe angles. . But I guess it is possible changing the camber had an effect on the toe. So I will measure again tomorrow.

If your camber was that far off I bet it had a good impact on the toe once you got the wheels straight up and down. You are probably toed out now. Try the toe at 0 instead of 1/4” toe in and see if that’s better. Keep in mind that once the toe is close only turn the tie rods in VERY small increments to get it spot on and the wheel straight.

From what I've seen, one affects the other. So if you adjusted camber, your toe adjustment is way out. Then after you adjust the toe back in, check the camber again. I've had to go back and forth on several carts to get it right.

Yes, it seems one does affect the other. When I measured this morning, I had a toe out 2” wider in front than back. I guess That’ll put some drag on my speed. I tried a quick adjust to get toe corrected, and then my camber was messed up again. Ha. Looks like I’ve got a little back and forth experimentation to do..

Take tie rods off, set the wheels straight and adjust the camber. Then eyeball the tie rods and put them back on and set the toe

That makes good sense. I kinda want want to reset the whole thing anyway. The previous owner had the nuts and tie rod ends uneven. But Short term, I am happy to report that my minor adjustments this morning got me back up to a steady 25 mph. Thanks
