Re: running 48 volts
Why not just leave it 48 volt all the time. No since in over complicating it.

Re: running 48 volts
I would leave it at 48 all the time but doing so will from what i read on them would cause it to be jerky or burn up the resistors running low speeds. From what i read in another thread it bypasses the resistor at wot.

Re: running 48 volts
Yeh, you are putting the story together well. The 48v is a potential heat problem for the 36v components at low and med speeds and these components are out of the ciruit at WOT....

Re: running 48 volts
I had one that I ran on 48v for a year...No problem but, I always kept the extra heat at the resistors in mind. So I never drove slow for extended times. Some one else got hold of the cart and melted everything in a few months.... then we completed the conversion with a solid state controller etc, That is the right way to do this.......Good luck

Re: running 48 volts
48v is an easy upgrade on an old system. Spend the money to convert to a controller. You will be much happier. I did 48v on resistors and cart ran faster and pulled great, but you can't just putt around on the trails. It will burn the resistors quickly, and make sure you don't go through a creek with red hot resistors they will break and leave you with dangerous accelleration problems
