Slow accleration
The accleration is very slow on my cart, push throttle down very slow and it will rev-up, but if you just hit acclerator quickly it just bogs down, I changed fuel filter. replaced spark plugs. whats next.

Re: Slow accleration
Hello wingnut162, I am new to carting but have somewhat the same problem I have been getting help with. It is under Gas EZ GO then Gas Problems. I have received some good ideas that have helped.

Re: Slow accleration
Hi wingnut two things to look into. First clean the carb. and run a torch tip cleaner down the main jets and clean really good with a carb cleaner. Also check the valves for adjust it should be set at .04.

Re: Slow accleration
I have done both of the items you sugested, have gone one step further and removed the head and clean and inspected the valves, relaped the valves, put back togather and adjusted the valves to spec, still has no power, did a compression test and it is worse than before the valve job. I thing i have a piston problem.

Re: Slow accleration
Hi WING go the old school way check compression record it then squirt some oil in the cyl's crank it and see if it improves(higher) 20% if so you have a ring problem. You could also compress air in the cyl if it escapes in the crank case the rings are shot. Both valves needs to be closed to preform this check.Out the Carb-intake valve out the exh-exh valve. Hopes this helps.

Re: Slow acceleration
Hey racin161, did what you sugested with the oil in cylinders and compression went from 45-50 to 70-75 on both cylinders, I quess I know what i have to do. I looked at the cylinder walls when i had the head off and both looked good, do you think i could get by with standard size rings if i just hone the cylinders out? not real framilar with this engine.

Re: Slow accleration
You may be able to get away with it but be sure to check the ring end gap.I really don't know the specs on this engine as I run a 2 stroke but I'm sure with a little searching you'll find it or someone will chime in. If it's a little wide you may still get away with it for a few seasons just try to keep away from the dust & dirt.
