Anyone in IL street legal and running on street?
Just curious as to how many people here in IL (if any) have their cart set up to be street legal and actually run the cart on the streets as the law now allows. If you do, what do you have and pics would be awsum.
Thanks! |

Re: Anyone in IL street legal and running on street?
Jolsem,
Not street legal but close. I have an RXV which looks almost legal but isn't 100%. I'm in western Chicago burbs and run my cart on side streets and sidewalks. Am interested in other replies - guess no none else lives in Illinois. |

Here's what the V.I.N. needs to look like. Per the D.O.T. and N.H.T.S.A and S.A.E. and each number has a specific reason and purpose in the order.

Re: Anyone in IL street legal and running on street?
The State of Illinois WILL NOT register and plate ANY golf carts. In order to qualify for Registration and plates under the LSV/NEV laws the vehicle in question MUST have a 17 digit VIN from the manufacturer. Only VIN encoded vehicles will be considered. You CANNOT CONVERT a golf cart to this status.
On the other hand, your local government can ALLOW golf carts to use city streets, pursuant to local regulation. This is a different issue and law. This same local government can pass an ordinance banning these vehicles within their jurisdiction. They would need to erect signs at town borders stating so. Been there, done the research, disappointed. |
