workhorse battery draining
my workhorse battery drains in pretty much in an hour or so, wont turn the starter over. then in about 10 mins the battery is completely dead wont even lift the dump. i think something maybe hooked up wrong, anyone know what can be hooked up wrong that lets the system work but drains the battery?

Re: workhorse battery draining
Sounds like you have a bad voltage regulator....

Re: workhorse battery draining
I'm assuming that you have a good 12 volt battery installed? WHen is starts the cart, rev the motor and check the voltage at the battery. If you don't see at least 13 volts, then your regulator is bad. Not an uncommon problem...

Re: workhorse battery draining
I agree... a simple voltmeter will tell the tale ...... check it before you start and then when running it should be higher......

Re: workhorse battery draining
Scotty - Do you know what actual voltage comes out of the starter / generator? I've never tested this until last week and was quite suprised...

Re: workhorse battery draining
6 to 10 coming from the starter. 13.5 after the regulator at the battery.
We tested a few carts. I would have thought different? |

Re: workhorse battery draining
I had an older gas shuttle come in last week with a no start problem. Of course the battery was dead (brand new batt), charged it and found the starter/generator charging 19.09 volts in neutral and WOT. Replaced voltage regulator and it is now charging 13.9.
I had one earlier this year that was charging 16V, |
