Default Belt/clutch issue

Encountered a problem today where cart speed was very slow while at full rpm. Noticed that the belt was not sliding into the secondary clutch. Just riding in the ‘low’ gear so to speak. The clutch/belt worked correctly in maintenance mode but not when can was under load. (When it was actually moving). I also noticed so smell of burning belt. Any ideas ?

How old is the drive belt? Might be time to change it. Most Yamaha belts measure 1 3/16". Take your tape measure and see if it's smaller, if so it's worn out. If it's worn out it won't grab the sheaves properly and won't have enough grip to push the cart under load. While you are at it, take a look at the rear/driven clutch and see if the outer sheave is worn. The face should be nice and flat/true without any bumps or "dishing".

Likely a problem in the primary clutch, broken weight.

Replaced the belt and was happy that it solved the problem.
