Re: Vc 460
I actually own a Honda push mower that has the metal body but I also have 2 with the quote plastic bodies so they don’t rust. All three are hydro driven with the blade clutch so excellent mowers. I don’t live directly in the salt world but understand what that environment can do to any equipment.

Re: Vc 460
It has the plastic body and without the drive it took some effort to push

Re: Vc 460
Plastic? I’m surprised. All the plastic ones I have seen are almost black in color. And are definitely correct. If the drive isn’t working it is a beast to push.

Re: Vc 460
There were actually 2 here at one time. Both were the tan plastic and on both the drive system had failed. The first one was from someone here on the island and he called it a man killer when the drive system went out and gave it to me. That was my earlier ersatz bush hog. Again, plastic deck later broke up. That one went to the dump years ago. P.S. I see it is actually a light grey and it is harmony model HRM215. The other one was exactly the same model. There are some videos on youtube

Re: Vc 460
Took down the Green Head trap today. The mesh as I cleared the dead bodies fell apart. 2 seasons and the mesh is done for. Took some mesh from the GF's failed Magic Mesh bug screen and redid it. Not nearly so neat but ready for next season

Re: Vc 460
Push mowers....it would take me all day. I can run my 62" fast and do my yard in 20min if not too long and blades are sharp, but to do everything is an hour or more. Right now its hot and humid, don't want to do anything out there. I don't even want to go to lake lol. Right now just regular flies around but they get aggressive in this heat and want to land everywhere. I'm not sure why they are around the only thing in sight here is chickens and they keep it clean no flies there really.
Sorry I havent been here got into other things, summer is busy, had some family issues all spring that hopefully are fixed now, or for now. Cart is running good I should be doing some branches but its so hot out I don't want to. Couple weeks ago took a ride in the utv that was fun, there you can ride roads, well if you want to call them roads mostly trails and gravel seasonal roads. But its fun to sight see out in the sticks. Little dusty. I have to do some work on it, it blows some heat up the back of the seat and its not terrible but not ideal. It has some foam in there but its not working that well. I managed to hit 38mph in one spot, but legal is 25 max on roads. |

Re: Vc 460
I have the 2004 LT2180 cub cadet with the 18 hp vanguard in it that does most of my not very big yard. BUT there are quite a few areas I can't get to with it. I have some old lawn boy with a 6.25 hp briggs flat head on it that I use for those areas. The Hondas and an earlier 2 stroke lawn boy were my ersatz bush hogs. The old lawn boy is sitting next to the Honda waiting for me to take them to the dump. The rear wheel of it is in the pic Kgsc spotted the Honda in.

Re: Vc 460
I just thought I would give my reasoning to switch to clone power on these no longer produced golf cart engines. This situation as more time passes will just get worse. Rather than searching around and getting somewhat questionable replacement parts just spent the money for a clone conversion. Once you fab or buy the parts needed for the swap you are basically set for life. The parts both stock and aftermarket are everywhere. The parts to make BIG HP and REVS are everywhere AND well tested by the massive amount of racers that use them. You can but the latest Duromax 440 cc engine off Amazon for $306 delivered. It starts with 18 hp which is more than any stock cart unit plus It has the strongest block out there ,replaceable shell bearings in the connecting rod and automotive type valve keepers on the top end. As sort of wry comment you rip the governor out rev it to death and kill it, BUT you merely have shell out another $306 and you are back to go. P.S. Just for an example a VC swap kit for a EZGO TXT single cylinder clone is $729 and add the $306 for the Duromax comes to $1035. Food for thought
