Default 2004 EZGO TXT PDS DIY Lithium Upgrade

Hello All from Australia!

Just purchased a 2004 EZGO TXT PDS from my local golf pro (which he bought off an ex member). Carts in decent enough shape but batteries are shot. After 10 holes of golf 5 of the lead acid batteries sit at 6.0v and one batteries is down to 5.8v (less than 15% capacity). Cart cost me AUD$1500 which is pretty cheap for an operational 2nd hand cart in Australia.

I have done a fair bit of research and thought I would take you on the journey of my cart upgrade and DIY lithium battery build and conversion. Only at the research and ordering part stages so will update as a receive items and complete the conversion.

Here she is!

Initially I was considering if I should get 3 x 12v lithium batteries and connect them in series. This option would have cost me AUD $1200 and no guarantee that the three BMS would talk to each other. I determined that a single 36v battery with one BMS would be a more appropriate solution.

Batteries: I have procured 12 x 3.2v EVE grade A 105ah Lithium battery cells from alibaba through Amy Wan and Shenzen Luyuan. Total cost AUD$765 delivered to my home.

BMS: Spent a lot of time delberating between JBD and JK BMS. Ultimately decided on the JK BMS for the inbuilt active balancing. 200a continious with 600a peak BMS should be plenty. Purchased from Ali Express $AUD225

Charger: 36/48v 18A charger from Ali Express AUD$165

Battery Case: 200ah empty battery case from Ali Express AUD$65

Other bits and pieces I have also bought:
  • 36 to 12v step down transformer/voltage converter.
  • 400a ANL Fuse and Fuse Box
  • JK BMS Screen
  • EZGO rear motor cover
  • EZGO Spare Key
  • Replacement sand bottle holders

Is there anything that i have missed or should considering buying for upgrades? Specifically anything for the batttery system that may get me in trouble?

Note: Typed this all out with links to all things purchased but as a new member it wont let me post links for 7 days. Will updated once 7 days has elapsed.

This is the battery case i purchased It has now arrived and looks pretty decent quality. No bolts for the battery terminals but i should be able to find something fairly easily. Still waiting on cells to construct the battery, but the dimensions of the box match the description so should be able to configure the 12 cells to fit inside.
