I've had good Luck with the tapered adaptor sleeve for a 1" shaft and used the stock clutch,

Just be aware to use the adapter you must cut some off the crankshaft and further drill and thread where the retaining bolt goes. And if you decide that the stock clutch doesn't suit your needs the only way to use a 1" straight shaft clutch is to replace the crankshaft.

I did the Briggs twin conversion and added the starter/generator so when I made my engine plate I guess I aligned it without cutting the crank.
